“A Painted House”, by John Grisham, is a story about one young boy’s journey from innocence to experience. This novel was released in February of 2001. Grisham, normally known for his novels focused on law and the court, started writing about life in the rural south, beginning with the novel, “A painted House”. Publishers Weekly declared Grisham as "the best-selling novelist of the 90s".
“A Painted House” was inspired by Grisham’s Childhood. Grisham was born in the 1950’s and grew up in rural Arkansas. This novel is not a true account of Grisham’s childhood, but many of the scenes and settings did come from his life. Since the story is not told from the eyes of John Grisham, the story is told through the eyes of another young boy.
