Analysis
This article was extremely informative. There were a lot of numbers and statistics. The article focuses mostly on how African-Americans have been cheated in the past. They do this to make connections to why there is such a big wealth gap between blacks and whites. The writer gives several examples such as “black codes”, Homestead Act, and how Social Security excluded most black workers. The second half of the article offers solutions to fixing this problem. All the solutions were focused on helping the poor. This article most reminds me of a Conservative writer named Irving Kristol. I feel this way mostly because the article and Kristol both discuss ways to help the poor class. Both are in favor of economic growth in society. This means that the poor class needs to be helped with government programs.
