"Can a machine know?" This question is much more complex than it appears to be; it has many layers that would take so long to address, and for this reason, this essay will only discuss a minor part of the question.
"Can a machine know?" This question should be simplified by specifying the type of machine, which in this case, will be a modern day computer.
"Can a computer know?" Different people will have different answers depending on what their definitions of what it is to "know" are. There are four different ways of knowing: emotion, reason, language, and sense perception. Since people are capable of doing all these four things, so in this essay, it will be assumed that people "know," and computers' knowledge will be compared to them.
