Based on my readings of Articles 3, 4, and 5, you would think that the republican government is the type of government that best represents the people. Even though this is true, I think many politicians run for office by convincing the people that they will be better represented by him or her; but when they win the election, the people are represented only if it has some personal gain. Like Kwiatkowski, telling his colleagues that if he did not get that land to these people, his career as their representative would be over. Instead of fighting the land for his constituents, because he feels that they really need the land for their wellbeing. “Men of factious tempers, of local prejudices, or of sinister designs, may, by intrigue, by corruption, or by other means, first obtain the suffrages, and then betray the interests, of the people.”
