1. What made the character Tessie round?
At the start of the story, Tessie is generally accepting of the lottery. She is even seen urging her hesitant husband to pick a paper from the lottery box. After learning of her “win” in the lottery, Tessie suddenly changes her perspective on the ritual. She cries out her plea, stating that the lottery is unfair, but so would anyone in her situation. One could argue that Tessie’s change of perspective towards the lottery would make her character round.
2. What was the setting of the story? What role did it play in the actual purpose of the story?
