1. What made the character Tessie round?
At the start of the story, Tessie is generally accepting of the lottery. She is even seen urging her hesitant husband to pick a paper from the lottery box. After learning of her “win” in the lottery, Tessie suddenly changes her perspective on the ritual. She cries out her plea, stating that the lottery is unfair, but so would anyone in her situation. One could argue that Tessie’s change of perspective towards the lottery would make her character round.
2. What was the setting of the story? What role did it play in the actual purpose of the story?
The story is set in a small town, on June 27th. The story begins with kids playing and towns folk chatting as if it’s just a normal summer day. The purpose of the setting is to make the lottery seem as if it’s not a big deal. The setting...
