Ever since I lived in England over ten years ago, going to tea has been one of my favorite things to do on a lazy afternoon. I have visited nearly every tea house in Orange County, and while I have had a very nice time at each and everyone of them, my afternoon at celebrating my friend Laurie’s birthday at a little tea house in San Clemente was one of the most relaxing and enjoyable afternoons I have had in a while.

Our outing began at Laurie’s house in the early afternoon last October. It was a slightly overcast day, but that did not dampen our spirits. The house was buzzing with excitement as we waited for the final guests to arrive before we all departed down south. I was sitting with Laurie on the couch of her living room just before we were scheduled to leave when, in mid sentence, she stopped and said with her jaw dropped, “Oh my Go . . .”
