Barry! Barry! Barry! Imagine 30 thousand baseball fanatics chanting that name in unison, but in the background a spattering of boos. That is what it sounds like when San Francisco Giants’ best player comes to bat. This year Barry Bonds is set to break baseball’s most coveted record, the home run record. Even though he is close to breaking the record there is a cloud of controversy looming around it. That is because of his connection to a company that was found by a federal jury of distributing performance-enhancing drugs. One side of the argument is that he should not be recognized for the accomplishment, because he cheated by taking drugs. The other is that he has never tested positive, so he deserves to be praised for his accomplishment. In the era of performance-enhancing drugs athletes should not be judged unless they are proven guilty of use.
