In Robert Hayden’s, “Those winter Sundays” We read a poem marked with deep emotion and a look into a familiar situation on the western home front. Hayden uses poetic devices such as alliteration, symbol and tone to create feelings and emotions of a situation of his past for his readers to re-live. Hayden’s poem opens our imagination to detailed pictures and sensory images that grasp the reader. His style is that of a story teller that envelopes his audience to rethink their story as he proceeds with his. As we question his experiences it helps us to question our own.
