You’re a farmer in the west and all of a sudden you are getting slammed with a

excise tax on whiskey. You are outraged that the government thinks you are senseless

to realize what is going on. Every time you pour yourself a glass of whiskey you are

just accepting this tax. You are allowing the government to control your life, but what

are you to do? You realize rebellion is your only answer, so you start something that is

now known as The Whiskey Rebellion.

The states had a debt from the Revolutionary War and no way to come through

with the money. Alexander Hamilton proposed an agreement with the states and

federal government that the federal government would grant the states the money to

pay the debt. This sounded like a wonderful deal but...
