Message to Educators
First things first - if you end up at a place the *sells* termpapers, it's not us, it is an advertiser. Everything on School Sucks is 100% free.
Second - the search engine searches for any word or set of words, so you can search the text of the papers. This keeps things transparent.
Its been 9 years since the "School Sucks - School System" dialogue began. I've learned a lot and I bet you have too. We're here to be the collection of free homework for students (if they use it to get their feet wet and read the work of their peers, it helps you achieve your goals too!) and be a fun place for them to hangout on the Internet.
I know its not easy to be a teacher. The high school I went to in Miami in the 80's now has a metal detector. And that's just one of many problems.
School Sucks aspires to a better education system. There are two major problems to be addressed:
In the US, there are few 'checks and balances' in the education system. Where they've tested teachers, results were embarrassing. If you want to be responsible for our future, have a degree/minor in what you teach! All educators should have a degree in their field and a minor in education. Knowing something and being able to communicate it are two different things. Education should become an important department in our universities. Education departments should be the flagships of our universities.
Today's world is a fast moving one. The curriculum - and its basis - in most schools in the world are off the mark. The focus on memorization skills instead of analytical skills is for another age. Today, its easy to find the information. The key is to know how to filter it and how to use/analyze it. Even computer classes are teaching material *knowing* it is useless to when the student has the degree and no knowledge in the current 'basket' out there. There needs to be an international discussion on 'what do we teach them with the changes that have occurred.'
You want better students. You've a right to expect certain things of them. School Sucks wants better teachers and a re-evaluation of how we define curriculum in the Information Age. Fair?
