Three Negative Effects of Infidelity on a Mother
Merriam-Webster Dictionary defines infidelity as marital unfaithfulness or an instance of it. Many couples in today’s society are suffering from cases of infidelity. The majority of the time the husband has been unfaithful to his wife and mother of his children. Psychologically, physically, and financially mothers are drained from the acts of unfaithfulness committed by their husbands.
When a wife’s husband has cheated on her, it can lead to psychological issues that can negatively impact the way she interacts with her children. Many mothers become short tempered or impatient with their children due to their husband’s extramarital affair. Mothers also may be so emotionally distraught that they begin to neglect their children making it hard for them to give the children the care or attention that they deserve. Questions arise in the mother’s head such as who is the other woman, how long has the affair been going on, and why did the husband cheat which makes it difficult for the mother to completely focus on the needs of her children. All of the mental stress that the mother goes through undermines her ability to be a good mother. Since the father’s infidelity can also have an effect on the children psychologically, it becomes the mother’s responsibility as well since she is the primary caregiver.
Once a cheating husband engages in unprotected sex whether it is once or multiple times, his wife is now at risk for HIV/AIDS and other types of sexually transmitted diseases (STDs). STDs can cause cervical and other cancers, chronic hepatitis, pelvic inflammatory diseases, and many more complications. Once the mother’s health deteriorates who will be left to provide or help her provide for the children.
