A Meaningful Place Assignment
I think we all have a place in our mind that has a great significance for us. I have a wonderful place that made me happy a lot of times, many years ago. This place is meaningful to me because it is part of the town where I grew up, and it is part of my childhood. This place is in Jinotega, a small town located northern of my country, Nicaragua. People live in apartment or condominium buildings because of its little space available. I grew up in one of the many buildings in Jinotega.
I was always admiring from my bedroom window the beauty of the mountains, always exploring with my eyes the forest or the meadows, looking for a clean and quiet place. And, I found one on a hill in the back of the town. It was about 400 feet square, and it had seven trees, wild flowers and a lot of bugs and ants during summer time.
I used to go there to sit down on a rock and watch the town and the trees. There was a very old tree, an oak tree, with a huge trunk. The others were smaller, three in the back, three on my left side and the old oak tree on my right. It was nobody's place. Nobody owned that hill. It was peaceful where I used to go to be alone to dream with my eyes open admiring the blue sky or the clouds. I liked to go there to lie down on the grass, listen to the wind, and watch the leaves moving. I wanted to see everyday my nine trees because I wanted to see how the color of the leaves changed, and I wanted to feel the softness of the grass. I also liked to hear the sound of the wind, and I liked to fell the wind on my face.
I remember being happy when I used to go to that hill.   I thought that that place was unique. But when I grew up I visited other cities that had places like my hill. Now, I do not know why I loved that hill so much.
