The word abortion has multiple definitions, and compounded connotations. Just hearing the word stirs controversy, but essentially all definitions point to something that is not complete. The pro choice movement argues that a woman has a right to choose what happens to her body, but in fact a woman does have the right to choose, in most cases, whether or not to have sex, whether or not to use contraceptives, and whether or not give her baby up for adoption.
Countless women have tried desperately and failed at having children on their own. Only to see thousands of unborn babies killed, because of whatever the situation of the mother. These babies could have easily been put up for adoption. Although the adoption process is difficult for both parties involved it is for good reason; social workers want to make sure children are placed in great homes with families who have to pass multiple screenings. There is now open adoption, for those women who want the best for their children but still want to be a part of the Childs life. Countless options are available. The government has made such laws, but then no legal punishment to the woman who chooses to abort her baby. There is also the fact that if a woman decides to have her child and keep it, she may ask for child support from the father. The father then is legally responsible for that child until the child reaches a certain age. The laws are a contradiction, if a woman is allowed to abort her baby than a man should also be allowed to cut ties to the child as well, after all isn’t that what pro-choice is about?
The rational reasoning behind pro-choice does not hold up. If everyone is allowed to choose what they feel is best for...
