The merger of InterClean and Envirotech provides an opportunity for a company to lead the industry in full service cleaning. In order for the company to succeed and prosper a comprehensive training program needs to be implemented. With the two companies combined, the sales team will need to go over all new information regarding both products and services to keep up with changing market. We developed a training program including mentoring that will benefit the sales team. As stated by Cascio “The organization is responsible for providing an atmosphere that will support and encourage change, and the individual is responsible for deriving maximum benefit from the learning opportunities provided. This may involve the acquisition of new information, skills, attitude, or patterns of social behavior through training and development.†(Cascio, 2006, p.288). This course will include the company mission, introduce the new products and services, how to meet new standards of the federal government. Included in the training will be multimedia presentations, oral presentations by mentors, and different interactive workshops.
The first step is to understand the training and mentoring needs. This step is part of the assessment phase. With the company expanding in to a customizable full service company the sales team needs to understand everything from products, sanitation, environment regulation of cleaning and cleaning systems, and OSHA standards. Environmental safety has been the major contributor to the change. The training program will intertwine the strengths and weaknesses of each employee and help each other reach the same page. With the help of mentors the newer employees can learn what it takes to compete and do each job well.
