Affecting Change
The ability to influence and motivate people to work together to achieve a certain goal is leadership. The leaders of an organization can often face obstacles with motivating employees to adjust to culture and organizational changes. The success of a manager will depend on a superiors influence, their peers, and the influence of their subordinates. The Leaders in Action simulation Smith and Falmouth's (S & F), COO are faced with a difficult task of taking a group of difficult employees and leading them toward achieving the goals of the company. This paper will give some recommendations regarding how to outline a restructuring program for Smith and Falmouth (S & F), to empower their employees. It will also speak of their control methods, and the organizations culture. This paper will also give some suggestions regarding how to manage, and on some of the ways they can improve their practices and the reasons.
Restructuring Department to Improve Culture and Empower Employees
The new Chief Operating Officer, who is new to her position has been facing some resistance starting there, and she has come up with an organizational profile to establish the culture of the organization at this current time. It was noticed that there was very little communication within the various teams even though the groups were working closely together. Not a great deal of influence by the project manager over the present culture, and for that reason it will be determined by Spencer that Argyle would be the best person for restructuring the organization.
The first step to this plan was to have Argyle meet with Spencer and to discuss the new open door policy that will be going into effect immediately to allow the teams to voice their questions and concerns. Spencer has also decided to take a salary that is based on how the team performs, and at the same time set up a vision for the team that is clear and understandable.
