American Revolution:

When some British citizens immigrated to the new colonies, it was expected that this would create prosperity for the mother country, yet this was not the case. Instead there was a rapid economic downfall which was due to numerous reasons. The Brits saw no other choice but to enforce new policies on the colonies. The policies that England imposed on the colonies was created in order to improve the recession of the country; however the colonies believed that the policies were cruel and unjust, and also thought that they were being deceived. They had forgotten the fact that they would still be ruled by England, regardless of where they were. Because of the hatred the colonists had for the newly imposed policies, it led to the rising of the American Revolution. It is clear that the Revolutionary War was an unjustified war because British policies were reasonable, legal, and benefited the colonists. The taxes were fair and low and the colonists prospered economically, so British policies did not unduly infringe upon colonial rights and liberties.
The colonial system worked rather well until the French-Indian War broke out in 1754. When the Seven Years’ War came to an end England signed the Treaty of Paris. France was forced to surrender all of Canada in exchanged for Martinique and Guadeloupe. Though England was now triumphant, the war had badly strained the country’s finances. The British now “had a staggering national debt of ₤140 million – twice what it had been in 1754”(American Revolution 67), regardless of the heavy tax duties during the war. Because of this, they were forced to turn to America for assistance in paying the debt. In an effort to alleviate these financial burdens, the British Government sought after various options for raising revenues. By the time the war had ended in 1763, the entire equilibrium was shattered, and the whole system had been altered. There was no alternative but to tax the colonists in order to pay off the liability....
