The two expository essays read were “Setting the Table†– http://www.artofcookery.com/settingthetable.htm and How-to Clean Fish†– http://capmel.com/how_to-fillet_fish.htm
Each essay had a defined and narrowed thesis in the introduction. The introduction included pertinent background information that grabs the attention. The thesis statements conveyed the opinion about the topic and included information that was good needed to further understand the position of the author.
The supporting body included examples and information presented fairly in a non-biased manner. However, these essays did not have a strong conclusion.
In both of the expository essay read each author used the topic process in the beginning; the author of “How to Clean a Fish†uses the informative process more than topic process. The informative process was used to describe a step by step instructions on how to Clean a fish and he describe the importance of understanding which method to use to cut the fish depending upon why you wanted to cut the fish. The How to Clean Fish essay was demonstrated with illustrations and specific instructions.
The essay “Setting the Table†utilized the informative process in a limited way. The topic process is a systematically organizational of information about a topic in the most logical fashion. Each organized their topics and a step-by-step logical fashion.
The author that chose the informative process described how to do something and wanted you to understand the importance of doing it. The informative process is design to help you communicate knowledge and call people to action. It is very effective in preparing motivational speeches. The author of "How to Clean a fish" could have use more of the Topic process to organize the essay in a systematical manner. Systematically organizing the topic helps the audience to see a more dramatic effect of the importance of achieving the desire results. The author of "Setting...
