Animal Testing is Wrong

Clairol. Cover Girl. Gillette. Johnson & Johnson, Aveeno, Neutrogena, L’Oreal, Pantene. What do all of these companies have in common? They all test their products on animals. Animal testing is cruel. Animal testing is wrong, plain and simple.   It’s death waiting to happen!
Animal testing is a phrase that most people have heard at some point of their lives but may not be completely sure at what it involves.   These tests are conducted virtually everywhere. They may take place at universities, medical schools, pharmaceutical companies and military defense establishments. Animal testing is used for countless products and applications. Everything from items in your home to products you use and medications you take have likely been tested on animals at some point prior to distribution. Some products usually involved with animal testing are cosmetics, drugs, food additives, supplements and household products.  
Animal testing is expensive. Paying for a lab to perform the test has an initial cost between $10,000 - $75,000. This includes use of lab, personal costs and equipment costs. There is also a payment for the test subjects, animals are not free. Also, companies have to pay for FDA or EPA approval and patent costs.   Animal based methods are routinely very costly in money and time. Non-animal test methods are typically less costly and less time-consuming. Animal testing costs your family more than 300 dollars a year.
Don’t be fooled that all these companies are testing on animals for your safety. These tests are usually not reliable in determining the chemicals effect on humans. Reactions can vary greatly from species to species so it is quite difficult to come to any conclusion about what a substance will do to a human if it’s tested on an innocent rabbit. In fact, a product that made a test animal go blind could still be sold to you. Human and animals are different in many ways including psychologically, metabolically, anatomically and genetically....
