Pursuing a master’s in business administration with an emphasis in global business Management is a very personal decision that an individual must make after fully exploring all the positives and negatives. However, the benefits of achieving this degree are vast, especially since lifelong learning has become nearly essential to succeeding in today’s job market. An MBA is not a cheap undertaking and is quite labor-intensive, so it should not be taken on by the light-of-heart. This paper will construct and support an argument as to why I am pursuing my master’s in business administration – global business management. While constructing and supporting this argument, I will take into consideration the results of the Jungian Personality self-assessment and how others may perceive me.
Although receiving an MBA is not as rare or valuable as it once was, this degree is still a valuable asset to the right individual. Several factors should be considered when determining if receiving an MBA will be valuable. What are the career goals? Will the MBA be specialized? Is there prior work experience? Will there be a change in the place of employment? After I obtained my bachelors degree of science in business - accounting, I found that the job market was limited in my area and if I wanted to increase my income potential and chances for a different career, I would need to further my education. While pursuing my undergraduate degree I worked in the accounting field so I had the experience that many employers were looking for. The experience was not enough though. Many of the employers were looking for a person with a four year bachelor degree and the experience. I did not want to start an entry-level position in a company in my degree area and take a significant salary decrease.
Another reason that motivated me to obtain my MBA was the fact that I knew an advanced degree would be needed to obtain my Certified Public Accountant license. I have...
