Both articles that I read are expository essays because one (Setting the Table) is explaining how to do something and the other (Cochlear Implants) is explaining why he has the need to do something and the process of doing it.

I believe the Setting the Table article is a combination of a topic essay and an informative process essay.

The Setting the Table article is about the correct etiquette on one topic, setting the table. It is telling you in an informative manner how to go about setting the table properly.

I believe the Cochlear Implants essay is a topic, time order, and an informative process essay.

It is a topic essay because it is speaking about hearing aids and the possible reasons as to why someone may need to get one. It is a time order essay because it gives a history on the Cochlear hearing aids. It is an informative essay because it tells how Cochlear Implants work, how they destroys whatever hearing remains, the risks of the surgery, and the commitment it takes by working to develop auditory skills

o Why do you think each author chose that type of organization for his or her essay?

I think the Setting the Table author chose to create a numbered list because in the second paragraph they stated that there are ten fundamental. By numbering the rules it makes it easier for the readers to distinguish each rule. I also think that by numbering each rule it makes it easier for any individual to follow the rules so they can set the proper place setting.

The Cochlear Implants author may have chosen that type of organization because it makes the article more personal: It not only tells you about the implant it includes information and examples that are relevant to him. By choosing the type of organizational layout that he did the author also...
