Bora Bora, Tahiti, a tropical paradise. Once called the most romantic island in the world. Two peaks of black rock are the centerpiece of this magical island. They provide a gorgeous background to the various blue colored waters. The island’s most popular feature is the lagoon, which allows visitors the opportunity to experience such things as windsurfing, jet skiing, scuba diving and swimming as well as just laying in the sun enjoying the warmth. Who would not want to visit such a beautiful place?
Bora Bora is located in the South Pacific Ocean about halfway between South America and Australia. Bora Bora is in the same time zone as Hawaii, though it is located closer to the equator. Bora Bora is made up of five archipelagoes, four being volcanic, and one being coral. The climate in Bora Bora is tropical but moderate with an average temperature of 79Ù’. Bora Bora has a population of 287,032 people, with the median age being 29 years old. (Central Intelligence Agency [CIA], 2009)
In order to visit Bora Bora, Tahiti, one needs to acquire a passport, or have one that has at least six months of validity left. If one plans on staying for more than one month a visa is necessary. If one plans on staying longer, they will need to secure a visa as well. Bora Bora has a very low crime rate, and travelers should only be aware of petty theft and things such as purse snatchings, making sure that their valuables are secure at all times. Once in Bora Bora, visitors have the option of only five independently owned restaurants. There are however a few more restaurants within the larger hotels on the island. The recommended casual dining restaurant for Bora Bora is Kaina Hut. Kaina Hut features French, Polynesian and Japanese cuisine.
