Thesis Statement: The use of steroids by athletes is unfair and can be very dangerous to both the body and mind.
I. What are Anabolic Steroids?
A. The most commonly used drug in sports
1. Anabolic= “build up,” or the ability to promote body growth and
repair body tissue
2. Steroid= name given to one group of the natural body chemicals
called hormones or refers to the number of compounds

4. An authority on sports medicine estimated that 70-80% of all
anabolic steroids made are used against sports rules
B. Getting Steroids
1. There are 120 different anabolic steroid preparations that are
available to purchase throughout the world.
2. Steroids can be purchased over the counter in some countries,
just as Advil can be.
3. There are many ways to get steroids even if your doctor won’t
prescribe them:
