Title: Banning Handguns
1: Introduction and Thesis:
In America banning handguns is the one of the most controversial issues talked about because it is often abused in today’s society. Many people think that it would benefit the United State by banning handguns in order to reduce crimes. While other people in America think handguns should not be illegal for law abiding citizens. This paper argues that there shouldn’t be ban or law against the ownership of handguns.
2. Argument and Explanation:
Reason 1: I believe that every American citizen has a right to own a handgun. In the United States Constitution the second Amendment states that a well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a Free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed. The U.S. Constitution is the supreme law and should not be violated because is the foundation and original source of the legal authority underlying the existence of the United States of America. I also believe that every man of the household should have the right to protect his family and land with the power of a handgun.
Reason 2: Everyone should have a back up plan in case of trouble. The .most common words out of a police dispatcher is “An officer will be there in about 15 minutes” Of course, avoiding trouble is always the best policy. If trouble does find us despite our best efforts to avoid it, you should be prepared. For Example, wearing a seat belt while driving. Even though you aren’t looking for an accident you should wear one to minimize the damage if something does happen. A person may not wish to go armed today. But if they decide to carry a sidearm sometime in the future, maybe as a response to someone stalking or threatening, he or she should have that right to carry a gun. The tradition and the current practice of wearing defensive arms by millions of Americans preserves that right for all of us.
