Barron

As often as many people would like to think that our life is just that, "ours", according to Barron, it is not. Unnerving concepts for many to grasp, what is our life then, who's life are we living, and why it isn’t ours.   Forget the American dream and live through God, this perhaps is easier said than done.
Instead of the American dream of self fulfillment, Barron describes three paths of holiness.   The first being drawn closer to God in the center of the Trinity, the second; we are healed and transformed, focusing all our energy on finding the ground and direction in Christ.   Thus, the third path of holiness is "coming to terms with the fact that our lives are not about us."   We are to surrender our lives over to the higher authority of God and do his will, just as Mary agreed to deliver a virgin son, as this was Gods will.
Path three, understanding that our lives are not our own, Barron describes as the "undoing this sin of Eden." We become a better person by allowing Gods will through us in our lives by practicing and showing his love to the world.   By surrendering our lives to God we are giving up any attempt to control our lives, or in other words, controlling him.
According to Barron being created in the image of Christ, that at the root of our being "from our beginning we are meant to realize Christmorphic destiny."   This Christmorphic destiny means that we are to live our lives gradually unfolding and learning that our lives are not ours but Gods, and live through him for him in this world.
