Being Hispanic in Lancaster PA
            I have wonder if people from other ethnic group have looked upon me and try to imagine how life would be if they were Puerto Rican. If their home life would remain the same or if it would be totally different. I have thought about how life would have been for me if I was Caucasian especially the times when I felt so low become of the discrimination I have endured.   In my opinion I think I would not been the same person. I am a proud parent who has accomplish much in my life but through struggle and hardship, but it has taught me   not to be like others to have a good heart and because of that   I can survive through anything . In this paper I would like to give you a better picture of who I am, about the communities that I am raising my child and the opinion of our community from a local Hispanic paper.
My name is Santia B Tascon; I am a 28 year old single mother that lives in Lancaster PA. My family and I are originally from Puerto Rico but when I was a year old my parents moved to the north eastern states. Since I was small I have lived all over New England which has given me the opportunity to meet different people and diffent environment. Through much of my life I try not to become a statistic but I did. At the age of 16 I quit school, worked full time, and had my own place. Though I did not to be what many people would categorize a typical Puerto Rican.   A person with no education, working at a dead end job, with children ,and   no future, and for a long time I was exactly that ,except the children part   at least I was smart about that. I did not open my eyes until I was 24 years old. I have met this nice older lady at the restaurant I worked at and she talked to me about her success and how one time she felt she was a failure.
