The Bead Bar major information security threats will be poorly written software, improperly configured systems, computer viruses and worms, external beach, and internal breach. Poorly written software can allow malicious programs to enter and attack or freeze data without the user’s knowledge. Improperly configured system would permit a user outside the company access to the internal system to create problems. Computer viruses and worms infect computers and destroy data to the computers to cause improper operation. Computer worms cause networks to fail or loss of revenue depending what data has been lost or destroy. External breach of security is someone outside the company who is attempting to gain access to the internal systems through hacking, cracking or from script kiddies who are low level programmers. Internal breach is someone inside the company with the proper access to the systems. When employees get relieve of duty they have access codes or some form of access to breach the system.
The security awareness training plan for Bead Bar would consist of the proper use of passwords which will have numbers and letters to make it harder to break. The employees will have to get trained for proper activities on the computer along with self aware of what they are downloading and what protection they have on the computer to avoid unwanted bugs.
The backup system for the internet will be one that performs at night from the main server. Each individual location will have backups from their own records. The main server and the internet also will have the records, it is important to have three copies of the data form the company.
