Bead Bar System Development Plan

Introduction
The purpose of my writing is to create an information technology infrastructure that will help the Bead Bar increase their revenue and productivity.   I will use the System Development Life Cycle (SDLC) to help develop this IT infrastructure. There are seven phases in the SDLC which are planning, system analysis, system design, development, testing, implementation, and maintenance.   The system development life cycle is also called the waterfall model.   Every phase of the system development life cycle must be completed before starting with the next phase (Ross, 2005).

Planning Phase
Planning is important because it lets a development team figure out how much information system a business might need.   By planning, the development team will also determine how much the new system will cost the business, how much new revenue it will bring, and how soon it will have the new information system running in the company.   The Bead Bar will need to perform four types of feasibility analyses: technical, economic, operational and schedule (Ross, 2005).

Technical Analysis
The Bead Bar still uses paper-based forms.   The paper-based system is inefficient and has caused problems including lost orders, incorrect invoicing, and fulfillment delays.   The Bead Bar has three divisions in the company.   The Bead Bar consists of six studios, five franchises and the Bead Bar on Board.   The Bead Bar on Board is a portable bead bar that specially designed for cruise ships.   The Bead Bar has 15 full time employees and about 20 part time employees (Ross, 2005).  

Economic Analysis
The Chief Financial Officer, Julia R., has expressed concerns about the cost new system and wants to ensure a good return for their investment.   The annual revenue for the Bead Bar has averaged $1.5 million dollars for the last three years (Ross, 2005).   Setting up an information system is costly, but without it the Bead Bar will continue to have lost orders, incorrect invoicing and...
