“Best Mistake Paperâ€
Many people believe that everything happens for a reason, and I agree. We all make mistakes. Unfortunately I made a big mistake that had many impacts on me and everyone around me. Recently, I was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol. I was pulled over when I was coming home from a party, and before I knew it I was on my way to spend the night in jail. Although I was rather upset at the time, I realized that being pulled over might have been a blessing in disguise.
Although I accept that my decision to drink and drive was entirely my fault, I was influenced by my friends. On a Friday night we were at a social party where alcohol was easily accessible. When we first arrived I felt kind of tense and awkward because I only knew a few people at the party. In order to loosen up and feel a bit more relaxed, I had a couple of mixed drinks. My friends decided they were bored of the party and wanted to leave, and since I was driving that night, I felt obligated to leave when everyone else wanted to. Little did I know, the decision to have just a couple of drinks, changed my life for the next year. If I had never made this mistake I would still have my drivers license, I wouldn’t have to work full time in order to pay off $3,000 dollars in fines and most important, I would still have my parents trust. Along with losing my license for a year and paying $3,000 dollars in fines, I’m also on probation for three years and have this on my record for seven years.
Even though so many negative situations have come along with my DUI, I believe that it has also brought along some positive situations. Since the incident, I have definitely learned to never drink and drive, and every action has a consequence. I was lucky enough to not have hurt myself or anyone else in my ignorant decision to drink and drive. I believe I have grown so much after my mistake.
