Checkpoint: Taking a position
In my opinion I have to say for me the key issue in the comic strip “ The Coffee Break” is Honesty. I feel that Anita’s decision of wether to steal or not to steal from her job and to report her co-worker is the issue of honesty. Anita did not use good or honest judgement when she decided to wait overnight. Afonita’s decision to think about what to do and act on her decision the next day came down to being of the moral value versus logical decision of what to do about the situation. I have say at least for me that stealing is immorally and logically wrong. This is why I say that she made a moral decision to wait a day before reporting her co-worker. I believe that she had a moral battle on her decision of what to do however she did report her co worker the following day.
I have to say I have taken a position on different things in my life several times. One of the important ones I can recall in my life was when I made the decision to file for my divorce from the man I had in my life for 11and a ½ years. The reason that I took this stand was because for me life was more important to me than going and finding my next drug fix, and for this man the drugs and his drugged out friends were more important to him than me and our life together. The whole thing was we had differ view and plan for our lives. He was always in and out of jail and I wanted better I didn’t get married to be alone. I made my stand and went and filed for a divorce and he couldn’t understand why I wanted a divorce. It was both a logical as well as a moral decision for me. I had to do what was best for me as well as what made me happy. The stress that came with the life with this man caused me to not gain weight.
