Is Bigness Bad?
1. I believe that bigness is bad because it turns our world into a business of greed. It drives out small companies and makes competing for service hard between businesses.
2. Its good for Wal-Mart’s profit to drive its supplier’s prices as low as possible but the factor comes into play of shutting down small companies and businesses. I believe that a community should work together to keep it growing and by driving down the price to pay from big companies will put the little guys out of business. There should be fair competition and by doing so we can keep the items we want on the shelves of the big companies, furthermore helping our small business owners.
3. We are facing economic failure and that has been caused by greed. The “Is Bigness Bad†issue needs laws and regulations to keep our economy moving. I believe that monopsony should be unlawful because everyone deserves a fair competition.
Shall We Cook the Books?
1. The company should have just pushed harder to make their goal. Changing the books will only mess with the number for the following year possibly putting the company in jeopardy. They will have to change numbers the following year otherwise the numbers will only increase on the debt side. Possibly looking into getting a partial bonus would suffice the CEO and CFO. They may also want to evaluate the market competition and if possible look into their competitor’s numbers and compare numbers. “Cooking the Books†is never a good idea in the business world.
