Executive Summary
Upon being assigned the satellite industry, our group agreed upon the GPS industry as a subtopic.   We feel that this topic/industry is significant and appealing, as it affects nearly everyone in the United States and around the world. The research process included utilizing tools such as Lexus Nexus, the UCF online library, as well as extensive research in tangible books and periodicals, and internet research. Analytical tools used in the production of this analysis include researching many different subtopics of the satellite industry to narrow the scope of our project down. After conducting research on the satellite industry as a whole, our group investigated the many uses of GPS technology, and decided that to be the basis of our industry research.
The GPS industry emerged from military demand and has since grown explosively into the lives of everyday civilians.   Anyone who owns a computer or smart phone has probably used GPS services at one point or another and many people use GPS services on a daily or at least weekly basis.   Research shows that buyers (both government and civilian buyers) hold a large amount of bargaining power, this being largely due to the fact that the government is one of the largest consumers of the technology.
