Blackberry vs. iPhone
“My life is interfering with my Blackberry.†That is an interesting statement considering one would assume just the opposite. Blackberrys and iPhones are the two main contenders in the battle to win the title of “the ultimate cell phone.†Our society lives for the Internet; accordingly, many people thrive on being technologically connected at all times. Blackberrys and iPhones are the staples in the cell phone/PDA/Internet browser market. Although similar in many ways, the Blackberry and iPhone each have unique qualities that appeal to a different kind of consumer; interface options, keyboards, and Global Positioning Systems determine who will be buying which product.
Most Blackberry users identify themselves as “a Blackberry person,†and will most likely remain loyal to that device for life. They have owned multiple versions and have updated their model every time a newer, better Blackberry comes out. The Blackberry is not only a phone, it is a lifestyle. More so than the iPhone, the Blackberry is geared toward the corporate, business sector. The calendar and email features make the Blackberry a cell phone and PDA in one. Research in Motion, the company behind the Blackberry, has amassed a huge and loyal following and fan-base of their product. More and more people are discovering the wonderful world of the Blackberry and its almost cult-like following is growing exponentially. The iPhone has calendar and email applications as well, but the Blackberry’s calendar and email are specifically designed for business purposes.
The iPhone appeals to a different crowd from the Blackberry. IPhone users identify themselves not as an “iPhone person,†but rather as a “Mac person.†Being a “Mac person†is as significant as being a “Blackberry person.†Mac users are addicted to Apple products and Apple’s operating systems.
