Rich Kid Smart Kid
The book I chose was Rick Kid Smart Kid by Robert T. Kiyosaki with Sharon L. Lechter. The book basically centered on the idea of financial and academic head start in life. The education one gets at school may not be providing sufficient information needed to show how the academic and financial aspects of life intertwine. This book serves as a bridge to get over the gaps in our knowledge regarding the financial and academic world. The book showed how to stimulate one to actually like learning using the same methods that Robert's smart dad used to help Robert stay in school, despite the fact that he had bad grades and often thought about dropping out. Rick Kid Smart Kid helps one to gain inspiring and practical financial knowledge that Robert Kiyosaki's rich dad gave him.
Agreeing with rich dad, everyone is born with the potential of being smart and rich. This potential can only be fulfilled as long as our “perception of [ourselves] is reinforced and protected from the…education [we] will receive in school, church, business, the media, and the world itself” (Kiyosaki 41). I can get the highest education possible or have all the money in the world, but without self-perception, the highest education and mass amounts of money is useless and worthless. A strong self-perception will benefit one for it will actually put my education I’ve gained over the years to use. It will also help me in keeping all the money I have and gain more.
Indeed the past is past. Many high school heroes, such as football/track stars, talent show winners, etc., will look back at the days when they were stars. Kiyosaki states that problems arise when “[you] live in the present trying to recapture the joys of the past” (85).
