The plane crashed deep into the woods. Brian began his 89 days enduring some harsh northern winter days. He had with him a survival pack which consisted of a gun, shells, hunting knife, compass, cooking pots and pans, fork, spoon, knife, matches, butane lighters, sleeping bag, a foam pad and a first-aid kit. The first-aid kit included scissors, cap, fishing line, lures, hooks, sinkers, and several packets of freeze-dried food. The food would not last long out of his survival pack. Brian would have to learn to hunt for food. Soon the warmer fall days turned into cold winter ones. His only clothing was a t-shirt, blue jeans and tennis shoes which were beginning to fall apart. He needed some warmer clothing to survive the winter days. The temporary hut that he built at first would not be good through the winter. He needed to make it air tight.
Brian got good at hunting. He would kill rabbits and birds. After cleaning the rabbits, he saved the fur and let them dry. He learned if you looked away from the animal and worked your way closer, the animal didn’t realize that you knew he was present. The rabbits made a great stew and the liquid juice was good for drinking. The fishing lines were placed in the pond. He would go and check the line every morning. The fish that were caught were placed in a small holding pond until they were ready to be eaten.
The hut was made out of rock. Mud from the pond was placed in between the rocks, along with leaves. Once the mud dried, the hut was air-tight. You could no longer see through the walls. Brian made a fire pit inside the hut to allow for his new home to be warm. There was a hole made into the ceiling to allow for the smoke to escape out.
After long hard nights thinking about how he would get warmer clothing, Brian decided to take the fur from the rabbits and attached them together. He used his knife to make small holes along the sides. He used one fur to make long stripes in which he would use...
