Building vrs. Buying a PC

After going to Fry’s and to Best Buy’s web sites I found that Frys.com was a much more comprehensible and user friendly web site. And would recommend Frys.com ove r Bestbuy.com.   Finding items and navigating through the site was seemed to be a much easier.   For example, I was looking for a AMD Phenom Triple Core 2.1 Ghz AM2 CPU processor, at Frys.com I found it immediately and at Bestbuy.com I never did find it, and later found out that the web site does not offer certain brands of CPU processors and that I would need to special order it from their “part search department”.   The parts selection at Fry’s is much more versatile while the parts selection at Best Buy seemed to be limited.
The services at both Best Buy and Fry’s appear to be comparable.   The biggest difference was the “Geek Squad” at Best Buy.   I have never had to use the Geek squad but I can see how valuable a service like that can be very useful to people with very little computer knowledge.
The cost of items at Fry’s are a little lower than the cost at Best Buy for the exact same items. For example an HP – Pavilion Elite Desktop with AMD PhenomII X4 at Best Buy is listed at $849.99 while at Fry’s the exact same item is listed at $819.99.
Building your own PC gives you a sense of accomplishment that you did it yourself and no one helped or had to build it for you. You know you saved some money by building a PC yourself compared to buying a factory built computer (usually they are more expensive for the same specifications a person can build themselves). You know what you have in the computer exactly compared to what you MIGHT get when buying an already assembled PC. They can/will make changes as they see fit. Supply & demand, if the part is not available that s listed for the computer they have the right to swap it out for another part which can be upsetting finding out you were supposed to have a certain motherboard but received a different brand altogether.

Only 2 reasons come to mind why...
