Hi ever wonder how people like Bill O’Reily and Michael Moore became famous? Well to try and answer that question we will delve into Michael Moore’s text, “Idiot Nation†and see some implications of why this may be. Our author Michael Moore was born in Davison, Michigan and after dropping out of college in 1976 started his own Newspaper, The Flint Voice. After some success with his newspaper he then went on to produce many documentary films and books which garnered Moore even more success through his opinioned mediums that tackled many different controversies he thought were affecting America. After reading this chapter “Idiot Nation†from Moore’s book, â€Stupid White Men…and other sorry excuses for the state of the Nation†we can see that his main point was that America’s education system is in a poor state sorely do to the under qualified people that are running the nation. After giving the text much thought I have come to see that Michaels Moore’s chapter “Idiot Nation†is a success to the intended audience through the use of fallacious reasoning and pathos mixed in with strident humor.
Moore goes through a great deal of time explaining how most of his main points make sense to him. The text starts off by talking about how most of the nation is full of idiots. In order to see this we just need to look at the amount of people that retain many “useless†facts from sports but are not enticed enough to retain information of anything else. Afterward, Moore uses statistics to say that a large portion of Americans not reading past the funnies or used car ads whenever reading a newspaper is reason to believe we are living in a “scary placeâ€. This reasoning is then used to make a case as to why America would elect Former president George W. Bush to office when he was a mediocre student at Yale, among other supposed “ignorant high-ranking officials†into office. Then...
