Radio Repair Doctors located in Dallas, Texas first opened its door in 2003. The owner, Tony Smith decided that the future of aftermarket car audio installation was decreasing as automobile manufacturers began offering improved audio, video, and navigation systems into their new model cars and trucks. The automobile manufacturers forced a sharp decline of sales and installations of aftermarket electronic goods because of the improved sound and entertainment systems found already installed by automobile manufacturers. Tony decided to leave the aftermarket stereo installation business to learn electronic component repair in 2001 and created Radio Repair Doctors soon after graduation ITT Technical Institute with an Associate’s Degree in Electronic Repair in late 2002. Since then, Radio Repair Doctors offers affordable rates and quick turnaround on repairs, and for the local market, has a mobile repair service that can repair equipment at the customer’s location. With the increased demand from consumers and auto dealers seeking repairs to their electronic systems, Tony has no time to expand his business. Even by opening a new remote shop in San Antonio run by his brother Steve to help relieve the increase in repairs, RRD’s reputation brings in more customers every day. Tony also has decided that he would want to expand his services to other states, but with only by the knowledge and experience installing and repairing electronic goods, he lacks the skills necessary to grow the company and increase market share. With Jeff Avitua’s recent hiring as operations manager for Radio Repair Doctors, it is his task to make sure that Tony’s dreams come true.
