Kudler Fine Foods is an upscale specialty food store owned by Kathy Kudler who has a passion for gourmet foods. Kudler Fine Foods is focusing on distinctive competencies and resources to bring value and competitiveness to its organization. For example, to increase loyalty and profitability of consumers, Kathy has implemented new initiatives such as cooking classes, frequent buyer points programs, and direct marketing (Kudler Fine Foods, 2008). A strategy game plan is important to gain an understanding of internal and external components and how they interact to achieve a sustainable advantage. In addition, marketing and operating decisions by all stakeholders play a key role in maintaining a competitive edge. This paper will demonstrate how tangible and intangible assets and functional tactics of marketing, finance, production, R&D, and human resources at Kudlers Fine Foods interrelate to accomplish strategic objectives.
Primary Reasons for Existence
The strategic decisions made by executives at Kudler Fine Foods are directly aligned with organizational goals and objectives. Kathy’s mission and vision statement support the business strategy and help the functional areas to focus on its objectives. For example, to provide customers with the very best foods and wines, Kathy has hired a manager and assistant manager for each store to oversee local students stocking and rotating inventory on shelves and assisting clients with culinary needs. In addition, if a product does not sell, managers ensure that it gets replaced as soon as possible. This is accomplished through a new sale and inventory tracking system, which enables Kudler Fine Foods to provide only the finest products and services that consumers demand, thus complying with its mission.
