Wellbeing:
Wellbeing is the state whereby individuals fell fulfilled and in harmony with the environment around them. There are many aspects that influence wellbeing, such as
- Physical - Socioeconomic - Spiritual - Economic – Political.
Needs and Wants:
Needs are the things we must have to stay alive for example, Water, food, shelter etc Whereas wants are things we desire to have but are not necessarily essential for life.
Classifications of needs:
Primary & Secondary needs:
Primary: Are the most important needs in life & they are essential, They include: Food, Clothing & shelter.
Secondary: Aren’t essential in life, they include: Love, Respect, Safety etc. These needs make life easier and happier.
Need’s can be:
PHYSICAL: Related to our body e.g. Sleep, food, water, exercise etc
SOCIAL: Being with other people, having friends etc Belonging is an important social need.
EMOTIONAL: Feeling security, love & support.
CULTURAL: Understanding who you are, where you come from.
SPIRITUAL: Believing in something in order to live a fulfilling life.
Maslow’s Hierarchy:
In order to progress from one stage to the next, Maslow suggested that some or all of the needs of the previous level must be first met to a certain degree.
Resources: Resources are things that people use to achieve their goals. They are thing that assist us, to enable us to achieve our needs & wants e.g. an assignment requires research, to research we use text books or the internet- These things are resources.
Classification of resources:
Economic & non-economic: Economic resources are things that have a direct link to finance e.g. Wage’s, income, shares etc.
Non-economic resources do not have a direct link to money & finance e.g. friendship, love etc.
Human & Non-human: Human resources are things that are created by a person e.g. Relationships, knowledge, skills, time etc.
