Cake Making and Decorating
Imagine, if you will, a four year old wanting to make her own cake for her birthday. Her grandmother decided that it was all well and fun so they decided to build a five layer cake. It looked as if it was about to fall over after being built up because none of the layers were even. The decorations were candies and globs of icing that were like a candy land extravaganza that her and her grandmother had put on. After the candle was lit and blown out the cake topples over as her parents went to cut into it. What a wonderful birthday that was, out of what I can remember.
When it comes to making a cake, one the most important things is to know what the flavor of the cake is going to be. Out of a quick survey with my friends about what their favorite flavor of cake and 6 out of 8 liked chocolate, but some of the other most popular cake flavors are white, and yellow cake. It all starts with choosing the right flavor depending on the customer. Then you can add in the eggs and mix until it all becomes one smooth paste. Adding in the flour and flavoring is the last step to the cake making process. Next is to bake it.
Baking the cake is just as important as mixing the cake. If the temperature is too low, the cake will only bake on the outside, so it would be like a lava cakes, which most do not want that for a birthday party. If it is too high, the outside will become burnt and hard, so you would have to cut off the ends which will cost you a lot in the end. So getting the temperature for the cake is very important. Most cakes will be baked at 325o – 350o F, but you would have to check the recipe for the correct temperature. After the cake is baked, it must cool before it can be leveled and decorated.
