Unprepared Camping Disastrous Camping

Camping was always a great pastime for me as a kid. My family was always searching for the next great camping spot to visit. A lot of times my friend Matt would join us on our adventures. Each time before we set off on our camping ventures my dad would always give his infamous speech about how important it is to be prepared in the great outdoors. Although we dreaded this speech not paying attention to my dad’s words would come back to haunt us one day.
One Friday during my seventh grade Physical Education class me and my buddy were tossing around the football trying to come up with some ideas for the upcoming weekend. We wanted to do something different, something new. We finally decided that camping would be fun, except this time without the authority of my parents. At first my parents were kind of skeptical but they finally gave in to our constant begging. Under one condition, we make sure we are prepared and that we carry the cell phone. We agreed and decided that we would set up camp at a spot about two miles away from the house next to the river. We started packing all of the things we thought we would need into a wheelbarrow. After double checking that we had everything we were off into the wilderness just the two of us. The wheelbarrow was very awkward and heavy,. Things kept on falling off and we had to stop frequently to rest. After only about half of a mile we decided to just take the things we thought we needed and abandon the wheelbarrow along with the rest of our equipment. Walking was now a lot easier and we were at the campsite in no time.

After finally getting there we were exhausted and stopped to take a short break. The mosquitos were horrendous, so our first objective was to set up the tent. While I was clearing a spot to put the tent Matt spoke up and said, “Dewayne I think your wasting you time because we left the tent in the wheelbarrow.” Great, what was camping without a tent?...
