Reflection
Through Camus’ eyes Meursault lives his life noncompliant with society’s unwritten rules. This characteristic sets him apart from society for being extremely individualistic. “He is foreign to the society in which he lives; he wanders, on the fringe, in the suburbs of private, solitary, sensual life.”   Camus’ statement reveals that his intention as a writer was for Meursault to be different than society, which he was.   Camus also claims, “He does not play the game.”   This shows further evidence of Albert aiming to show that Meursault doesn’t fall into society’s normal standards.
