Capital Punishment

Capital punishment is something I have swayed my opinion on for years now but with out ever really looking into the differing opinions I had never come to one supporting position.   Now that this topic has come up as an assignment I am given the opportunity to research both sides of this topic and closely look at how I feel about the to opposing sides.
The issue raised in the Podcast was that of a failed lethal-injection and that Moss was tortured before his final death. There is the old saying “An eye for an eye” if I were to be supporting the issue I would have to argue that; why should the convicted get a nice peaceful death when its likely the one he murdered was tortured.   This is not to say that I am supporting the issues, my religious beliefs tend to have me lean towards that of only God having the decision as to when someone dies.
Facts are that there are currently 3,308 inmates waiting on death row with all but 15 states having capital punishment and Nebraska and New York have declared capital punishment unconstitutional. Some would argue that the cost is more effective to have capital punishment in place because we would not be paying to house these criminals in prison for the rest of there life. According to religioudtolerence.org “The costs to the state of funding appeals by convicted murderers would more than pay for their permanent incarceration.”
Wesleylowe.com argues that keeping these people as inmates they will continue to commit murders within the prison system and that if they escape they will murder again.   Is this not still true for those that are waiting on there death sentence that this can happen too.
What bothers me the most is that we are playing God, putting the life of someone else in our hands, and with there being chances of errors and innocent people being killed I believe this is wrong. After reading what I have I have to say I do not support the capital punishment; after all killing a murderer does...
