According to Macpherson’s “top 5 qualities to advance your career”, the most striking qualities are self-motivation and also thinking strategically. These two qualities are very paramount to us in our different fields or career. And they also go a long way in making or destroying us.
Understanding and developing self-motivation is the first step in one’s life. This is because most people lack self confidence which affects them so much in their career and also in their education too. This is crucial factor because we as human beings we need to get motivated at all time, that is why I personally think having positive people around you is a good thing because they get to push you any time you feel down or when you are falling away with work or school work.
It is also important to have a positive thinking because if we are pessimistic with work we cannot go far with work and this is where procrastination comes in and thus we keep pushing the things we are supposed to do to further days which is really bad if we really want to have a successful career. Another part of developing self-motivation is changing habits in daily routine to create automatic behavior that will enhance one’s potential success, these habits could include excessive food, sleep etc.
Thinking strategically is also very important to me in achieving a successful career. Strategy is the plan of action that directs us to towards realization of our chosen goals. Goals inspire us to ask, “How do we progress towards our goals”. Goals without strategy are little more than dogs chasing tails. People who approach strategic planning with logic, reason and analysis develop plan that look reasonable, so we see that thinking strategically goes a long way in planning a successful career.
Thinking should be expansive akin brainstorming ideas, in order words we should always think outside the box. We should not limit our thought, because big minds come up with successful plan.
