Facts
In this case Plaintiff claimed against the staff of the Roger Williams Medical Center for not properly monitoring the Plaintiff in the hospital when Plaintiff was admitted to the hospital and forgot to put the bed alarm when Plaintiff was in ICU (Intensive care Unit). The plaintiff was admitted to the Roger Williams Medical Center, he was identified as a high fall risk because of the mild stroke, weakness and prior history of falling. The plaintiff was admitted to the Intensive care unit of the defendant’s hospital. In this hospital all of the beds in the ICU are equipped with bed exit alarms. Bed exit alarms are the audible alert to the hospital staff when patient exit the bed this alarm sends an alert to the hospital staff so, they known with the patient’s action or movement. The nurses in this unit forgot to activate the bed alarm because of this reason plaintiff suffered with a high fall risk.
Issues
This is a clear case of Medical Malpractice. In this case Plaintiff claimed against the defendant, hospital and hospital staff for not providing proper care in the Intensive care unit. Plaintiff was suffering from the high fall risk after failing to put bed exit alarm in the Intensive care unit. In this case when plaintiff was in hospital he woke in the night and he wanted to use the restroom. As he got out his bed and thinks that he was at home and he fell. The plaintiff fractured his left hip and the plaintiff had undergone surgery for the fracture. The plaintiff claimed that the hospital was negligent in failing to properly monitor the plaintiff and plaintiff suffered...
