"CHE GUEVARA"
His execution is still the subject of great controversy thirty years after the event took place. He defeated an army of ten-thousand men with only 350 guerilla fighters. He was second in command to Fidel Castro, and made it possible for Castro to gain power of Cuba. He was a man of legendary proportions. Who was this revolutionary? He was Ernesto “Che†Guevara, a man who never gave up cause, revolutionary guerrilla fighter, and strong leader. He was a positive role model to the world.Born in 1928 into a wealthy Argentinean family, they lived in a Catholic area.
Che, having completed medical school, was a doctor as well as a leader to the guerillas. On May 28th, 1957, Guevara was named Comandante, second in command to Castro. Che Guevara who had began as a determined young man, was now a well known solider. He had gone from stubborn to believing “the cause was more important than any single human life, even his own. Che went through this war with many victories. 1958, the battle for Santa Clara, Cuba, possibly his most shining moment, he lead the guerillas to victory in the battle that directly lead to Batista’s resignation.
Guevara was a Marxist revolutionary, political figure, and leader of Cuban and internationalist guerillas. Guevara was vital to the success of the Cuban revolutionary and remained active in the revolutionary movement until he was captured and executed by CIA operative Felix Rodriguez.
Public opinion on Guevara varies depending on who you ask within America. There are exceptions to every rule, but there are many people in American who would call Guevara a terrorist. So then the question must be posed, what makes the Cuban Revolutionaries any different from the American Revolutionaries who stood up to Britain rule in the War of Independence? The answer is nothing except the Cuban Revolution was in conflict with imperial plans.
