I have found two articles, using the University Library’s databases, on the two different topics I have chosen. The first topic I looked up was Distance Learning in conjunction with Time management skills for college students. I searched with these topics by using the EBSCOhost database and I searched these topics by using a strategy I learned from the library tutorial. The second topic I looked up is Ensuring academic honesty. I looked this topic up by using another database search tool called Gale Power search.
For the first topic I typed in Distance Learning and Time management for college students. I found an article that was peer-reviewed in titled Twelve tips for potential distance learners. There were many authors whose names are Sarah Hartley, Deborah Gill, Kate Walters, Pauline Bryant, and Frances Carter. The people who wrote this article are a group of North London GPs who were studying for a master’s degree in medical education. They have basically said that in the medical field there aren’t many online learning programs that people can take to receive a degree but that it is starting to change. This article points out that although it is convenient, online learning programs, to professionals and individual’s lives it has its down falls with people who tend to lose the motivation to complete the programs because of being isolated and solely responsible for the tasks they are assigned to graduate; therefore there is a high non-completion rate in online learning programs. The authors of this article have mapped out twelve steps for an individual to consider and use when taking online learning courses so that they can be successful and complete their course of study, whatever that may be.
I decided to use the other search database to do my other topic. I used Gale Power search and typed in Ensuring academic honesty. There was only one result to my search. The article is in titled Academic dishonesty: honor...
