The Christology of the Gospel according to Mark

    As we know Mark's gospels were the shortest of the gospels written in the New Testament. According to the Bible it seems as is this gospel was likely one of the first if not the first to be written. The kingdom of God is represented as the good news which was Jesus' message in which Mark puts a lot of stress on through out his writing's. Mark's writing's are designed to answer questions and the ultimate one being Jesus asking who he really is. The first half Mark's writing's focus on the answer to this question and lead the reader on to the second question of when did he come? After the disciples went out Jesus asked them the question of who the people thought he was and the disciples said " some think your Johns the Baptist", and " some think you are a prophet."
    Jesus began to take on all the roles of what the people thought he was. The disciples of Jesus really did not know who he was either so he told everyone to keep quiet about him, because it would be truly hard to teach the disciples what it means to follow him. The disciples do not get the true idea to whom Jesus really is until after the death and resurrection.
  In Mark's gospels Jesus takes on many different distinctive titles, which are attributed from different places, people and also with different meaning. Jesus' first title comes in (1-1) as the Son of God or the Messiah honored king of Davidic Descent (12.35). As in the Hebrew Scriptures the Messiah was the one to defeat all the enemies and establish Israel. This title was placed upon him by John the Baptist. These events take place at the baptism of Jesus. John the Baptist a messenger from God declared that Jesus was his son. During the Baptism a spirit comes down upon him and states " you are my beloved son: with you I am well pleased" (1-11) and promises him that he will eventually be baptized " with the Holy Spirit" (1-8,9).
