Join NowWell I believe that there are bias, fallacies, and a few rhetorical devices in the speech. I will start off with the bias in a campaign the person that is running for office is automatically biased due to the fact that they go in with the notion that they are going to win so there views are only about them and against the other running mates. I believe that the fallacies that are correct for this speech would be personal attack ad hominem because Kane was attacking the credibility. Another fallacies that I believe was used is the straw man because the boss Jim getties is not there at the speech, and Kane is speaking so harshly as well as trying to get the crowd to like himself and against boss Jim getties. I think that rhetorical devices that were used are Weaselers because he was trying to weasel his way out of looking bad and not really speaking on any issues. Horse Laugh/Ridicule/Sarcasm basically citizen Kane is making the audience laugh by speaking ill of boss Jim getties accusing him of illegal actions all citizen Kane spoke of was that he almost had no chance of staying in the race for governor. Kane also used hyperbole by over stating the supposed facts or rumors of Jim getties. Kane assumes that he is going to win the governor seat. I also think that false dilemma would be used because Kane is mainly speaking of two different parties. I also think but am not 100% sure that an innuendo was used in this Kane is stating that getties is a crook and the only option is that Kane be elected into the office for governor. All that I can say as a critical thinker is that listening to the speech the only argument was against getties there was no counterargument because getties was not there to argue back. I believe from listening to Kane speech that he only cared or spoke about how getties didn’t do this or hasn’t done that, or that Kane never made any promises. Kane mainly is trying to get the crowd to like him by getting the audience to laugh at the ill...
