      The Answer is Cloning

Human cloning has been a taboo among people in our world today.   Cloning could be the answer to healthier and longer lives. Such research needs to be funded on a large scale in order for it to have impact on everyone’s life, but with this research comes responsibility.   Many ethical and scientific reasons are blocking the way to human cloning today.   There are many different scientific reasons why cloning should be helping people and legalized today.   Cloning is illegal today because of people's ethical standpoints on the matter.   Some people are against it because of the concern about safety, while others simply have a personal discomfort towards the issue of human cloning.   However, human cloning could be the answer to a longer life for everyone and people deserve to find out that answer to what could be one of the most important breakthroughs in medicine.

There are many different types of cloning in this world, it is not as simple as a lot of people think.   Many organisms that are generally not thought of are able to clone themselves or are able to be cloned.   “For hundreds of years gardeners have taken slips (small shoots or twigs cut from plants) and rooted them to produce new plants in the process that could also be described as cloning.” (McGee, Glenn)   As many people know, asexual reproduction in many mammals and aquatic life all share the trait of genetic copying which could be also described as cloning.   Even humans have already cloned themselves throughout years of history without even being aware of it.   That is, “Human cloning, which occurs naturally but rarely with the birth of identical twins, became a technological possibility with the development of the technique of somatic cell nuclear transfer (SCNT) to clone the first mammal in 1996.” (McGee, Glenn)   As McGee explains, “The SCNT process works as follows: The nucleus is removed from a somatic cell of either a...
